The rising number of gyms, excessive workouts, muscular dysmorphia and its bad consequences!

Young men worldwide are getting increasingly conscious about their body. This is typically seen in their mid-20s or early to mid-30s. Celebrities, athletes, and social media influencers become role models for these young minds. The social media platforms such as Instagram has led to men wanting to post highly masculine images of self. The ideas surrounding masculinity is getting redefined and peer group pressures, trends, social media influence all add to this craze. But is it safe? What are the risks and associated issues?

Young men and masculinity

We see that everywhere in the world gyms have cropped up and pre-covid times they were making huge profits. Gyms are reopening with easing of covid-laid lockdown and restrictions.

The attendees of these gyms are mainly youth who desire a masculine body to impress people and especially girls and women. They feel that this is a must and they start pumping iron and enter weight lifting to achieve it. A UK study found that 10% of these men develop muscular dysmorphia.

What is muscular dysmorphia?

Muscular dysmorphia is a condition that affects mostly young men who get obsessed with bodybuilding. They feel that it is a must for them to be extremely muscular to meet peer and society demands and have a female fan following.

Bigorexia or megarexia (Source: Fitness Pollenator)

They get obsessed with building their varied muscles and often overdo it. For this they attend gyms regularly, lift heavy weights, increase protein intake in their daily foods, and also end up using several protein and vitamin supplements including anabolic steroids. The condition is also called bigorexia or reverse anorexia.

Anti-woke thinking on the rise!!

Other characteristics of people with muscular dysmorphia

People with this condition feel they are very skinny. They are dissatisfied with their body and have low self esteem. They have their own exaggerated view of masculinity and want to achieve it. They do gym workouts excessively and strenuously. This could in fact cause more harm than benefits. Besides, they may suffer from anxiety or depression due to it. Such people have a lot of underlying mental issues and need help and support for it.

These men suffer from masculine crisis and feel threatened. Some are bullied about their body. To overcome all this, some men resort to bodybuilding to quiten the bullying people. They feel wrongly that one is masculine not by their work but by their looks.

Therapy for such people

It is rather sad that wrong concepts of masculinity are making inroads into the brains of young men. These wrong notions are growing and have reached an immense state. Some measures should be taken to halt it.

Male students in schools and colleges need to be taught about how looking masculine is not required. Making men understand this is vital. Censorship should get active in preventing movies and mass media in spreading these wrong concepts about masculinity. Social media platforms should also have some tightening of reigns to prevent wrong information spread.

These men should be provided with cognitive behavioral therapy, thought restructuring, and also family should be involved in it. Anabolic steroids have their own damaging effects on the body system. Sale of anabolic steroids should be banned and steps taken to prevent its misuse.

These young men need help and society and medical fraternity has to come together to give them support.

    1. The problem very much exists and the estimates are not an exaggeration. Read below:

"Existing studies have presented estimates anywhere from 1 to 54 percent of men."
"A 2015 study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research examined the prevalence of MD in a group of 648 people with an average age of 29.5 who regularly lifted weights. They found that 17 percent of the participants were at risk of having MD and 33.9 percent were at risk of having an eating disorder."

"These men should be provided with cognitive behavioral therapy, thought restructuring"
Hey while we're at it, we can set up some massive camps to house them in, and if they fail their brain restructuring we can even burn them together!

But here is what you don't understand, you don't need to go this far, ... all you have to do is vote with your money.
Have the next generation of women repeatedly fuck the brains out, out of the least athletic, shortest, smallest handed, weakest jaw-lined young men they can find from high school onwards. Make sure they tell them : "Ho! you didn't even talk back when you got bullied, I'm soooo wet."
And I guarantee you an entire generation of men will shy away from the bench-press like the plague!

But how are you gonna make sure all the women do it, and not cheat this new sister code?
If just one of you fucks a muscular guy and has pelvic seizure, into pillow screaming, cunt gushing orgasm on video, men will know they have been tricked and flock back to the gym.

We already know you are not this good at faking orgasm, and having all of you keeping this mass behavioral modification a secret within your group is counter intuitive to the popular feminist push that women should live without consequences, ... would this create discords amongst you.

Would it raise more question, ... if you can so easily manipulate the behavior of men's subconscious so easily, are you really oppressed or is this in reality a matriarchy? Would people start asking even more questions?

    1. Thanks for your comment.
The reason for muscular dysmorphia is multifactorial. One cannot just lay the blame on society and girlfriends and get away with it. I suggest you further reading:
      1. Detailed scientific article on it is here
      https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4977020/
      2. Informally written article on it is here:
      https://www.bbc.com/news/av/uk-34315196
Please note the sentence: "The cause of muscle dysmorphia is not clear. The NHS states it may be genetic or caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain."
Besides, we all know that society demands a lot of things from both men and women. Most of these demands are ill-founded and wrong. Hence, it does not mean that we have to start trying to fulfil those demands that are wrong. So consulting a psychologist helps such people to cope with undue societal demands and overcome them for a healthy living.
One would overlook muscular dysmorphia if it did not have physical and mental health problems on the person suffering from it. But if it does lead to such issues (which only a medically certified person can diagnose), it is imperative to take steps to cure it. Here the approach has to be multipronged: treat individual, family, partner, as well as society.
