Wrong assumptions about singlehood in society!

As regards relationship status there are various terms used. These are single, in relationship, live-in relationship, married, divorced etc. But people in society assume a lot of things with these terms that may not be necessarily right. They may not apply to all and they might be outdated thinking. For instance if we take the term single, in traditional thinking people assume that such people are lonely or are ready to mingle and available. But none of these old assumptions and suppositions hold true in today's world. So what are the assumptions associated with singlehood?

1. Singles are looking out for relationships: This is what many conservative-thinking people assume. But the fact is that nowadays singles are very happy with their singlehood. They enjoy it and in fact feel privileged and lucky to have decided to not enter into a relationship. There are a lot of good things to do in society than entering a relationship and compromising and giving birth. One can serve society better if you are single. Also singles are needed in society to balance it. At least they can be helpful and supportive to the married couples and lend a shoulder to them when they want to cry and vent their anguish on getting married and bearing children. People are single these days by choice and not due to helplessness.

2. Single people are not happy: Here again the society is absolutely wrong in its thinking. There are multiple instances to prove that single people are far more happy than those who have married. In fact, marriages never guarantee happiness. If marriages were equal to happiness, the world would have been a happy place because most people in the world are married. But the fact that world is not a happy place implies that marriages do not mean happiness.

3. That singles have not helped society: Conservative thinking goes that giving birth is a great deed. But do not forget that reproduction and sex and food are PRIMITIVE instincts that are controlled at the hippocampus level. Education and growth and development of career, inventions, research, learning, discoveries are higher intellectual functions that help humanity. So which function is more valuable? Let me here also tell you that even if a law is brought into force that no one should reproduce, there still would be enough people to disobey and go on to procreate someone that would be enough to run a human race!!! As it is the world is facing the ill consequences of overpopulation and those who value lives would not like to bring into this deteriorating world their kids!!!

4. That single people actually have multiple sexual partners. Here, I would like to stress that the term single means no sex partners. But there is a small fraction of people who are SINGLEISH. This means that they are financially single and independent but are into multiple relationships. It may be for a prolonged time or just for sometime after a terrible breakup. Such people are called solo polyamorous. These people may also be relationship anarchists or non-hierarchical polyamorous. They do not follow the typical relationship escalator model of heterologous relationship such as engagement and wedding. But when you use the term SINGLE, it implies that you are Self-partnered.

5. Singles are commitment-phobic: This is not true because singles do a lot of other activities in which they are fully committed. Every person have their lives and dislikes. Similarly, singles like other work but do not like to get into any relationships.
