Categories of singles in the world

 Singles are those that are not in any relationships. They are Self-partnered. But it is a heterogeneous group. So what are the types of singles one finds in the world.

1. Singles by choice: These people are unwilling to have any sexual partner in their life. They are happy alone and whether employed or not, prefer to be single. They have realized the problems and compromises of singlehood in the society but are ready to face all of it boldly. They learn from the mistakes of others. 

2. Single due to career: These people have a very busy life that leaves them no time to think about their own lives. This category includes doctors, lawyers, business people and the like.

3. Single because they did not find the right person: These singles are willing to enter a relationship and mingle. But they have a number of criteria of their future sexual partner or life partner. They have not found such a person that meets all their requirements and continue to be on the lookout for such a person. 

4. Singles in between relationship: Some people broke up from their last relationship but have not yet entered into another one. So in between they might be single. The duration depends on how bad their last relationship and breakup was and how much they are now ready to compromise in their prospective relationship. Some want to have a pause to rethink and reflect on their life before moving on. It also depends a lot on luck on how they meet their next life partner.

5. Singles because of divorce: They can be part also of group no. 4 but here they were married and now divorced. Most of them seek a new relationship for varied reasons and may find it. 

6. Singles because of death of partner: These are widows and widowers and may continue life as singles or may enter into another relationship with or without marriage.

7. Singles because of desertion: These are the ones deserted by their partner. These are common in women of underdeveloped world where their husbands often desert them for no particular reason. 

8. Singles who are tired: These are those who have gone through a number of relationships and found that it did not give them true happiness. They sort of get tired of all this and decide that remaining Single is best for them in life. Hence they switch to this state and embrace it happily.

Wrong assumptions of society about singlehood 

9. Solo polyamorous: These are not exactly Single but are called SINGLEISH. They are financially independent and single but into multiple relationships at the same time. 

10. Pseudo-relationships: There are some couples in the world that appear to be together but are not in a sexual relationship. They live under one roof or seem to be seen in public together but are not in the same bedroom. They are in a relationship for the world but one or both of them may be single actually. The reason for them to be staying together are varied.

11. Singles because no girl left in the society to marry: This special category is found in India and most commonly in its Northern states of Haryana and Punjab. The culture in these areas is highly patriarchal. People prefer sons to daughters. Hence they kill the girls in the womb (female foeticide) or after birth during infancy (female infanticide). This leads to MISSING FEMALES. Hence there are many boys there who do not get brides. This has also led to the crime of 'slave brides' wherein girls are kidnapped from neighboring states for sex and reproduction.
