China warns of presumptions and politicization of the scientific probe about the coronavirus pandemic origin!

The WHO-led team of experts are in Wuhan investigating the origin of the coronavirus that took the world by storm and led to a pandemic that locked the whole world down. The USA has, been accusing China of having deliberately caused this pandemic by letting loose the virulent virus from its lab. The former also alleges that China did not take immediate steps to curtail the spread of the virus to other countries. Hence China has made it clear that no presumptions should be reached before the total investigation is over. 

WHO and the investigation 

The WHO has formed a team of 14 leading experts and scientists who have started the probe into how the virus jumped from bats to pangolins to humans and caused devastation worldwide. After 15 days of quarantine,  the team is now on ground zero to carry out their detailed probe. They will be at Wuhan for two weeks for it. They have been given the permission to pay a visit to Hanan market where it is suspected that the virus jumped species and reached humans. This happened in December 2019 and soon spread to the world via the travel route. 

The team members were relieved to complete their isolation phase and commence the actual work for which they are in China. 

China and its warning 

China is defiant a d assertive. It has already stated that it will allow the team to investigate the matter but will not want politicization of the whole issue. It does not want anyone to make negative presumptions about the viral origin. The Chinese foreign minister spokesman Zhao Lijian has said in Beijing that no speculation against China should be made at this point. Zhao said:

“Presumptions, negative speculation and politicised interpretations will be very inappropriate and will bring unnecessary disruptions to WHO experts’ joint study in China and is not conducive to reaching science-based conclusions,” 

“On the origin tracing, there are reports and studies…that show origin tracing is an ongoing process that might involve many places and it is a complicated scientific matter that should be conducted by scientists all over the world,”

China and its denial of any misdoing

Earlier,  China has categorically denied that the virus had escaped from the lab of virology situated in Wuhan. This was Donald Trump's unsubstantiated allegation against China. It irked the Chinese government and there was a clash between the USA and China over it. 

China has gone on record to say that the virus, was, present in Italy, Spain, and the USA even before it was, discovered in Wuhan. Joe Biden has put a full stop to all these non-proven allegations of Donald and has, clearly stated that it should no more be referred as Wuhan or China virus. Beijing is relieved. Joe had said:

“Inflammatory and xenophobic rhetoric has put Asian-American and Pacific Islander persons, families, communities and businesses at risk,”

“The federal government must recognise that it has played a role in furthering these xenophobic sentiments through the actions of political leaders, including references to the COVID-19 pandemic by the geographic location of its origin,”

Zhao said:

“We hope the US can work with a responsible attitude respecting facts and science and the effort of the international team so that they conduct scientific studies free from the disturbance of political factors,”
