The defeated President of the USA has agreed for the formal transition of power to Joe Biden but has made it clear that he is not going out without a fight! As this transition of power has begun, Watergate journalist Carl Bernstein has now revealed the names of 21 senators who publicly supported Donald Trump but actually did not like him. In private, they had expressed their dislike of their leader.
Twenty-one senators with disdain of Donald Trump
Watergate journalist Carl Bernstein has been a vocal critic of the former and now defeated President of the USA, Donald Trump. He has not put forth the names of 21 senators who he says did not like the President but continued to support him publicly for the sake of the party and their position.

He has been in touch and in conversation with the party and White House aides, colleagues and staffers of the senators, and also with congressional lobbyists. Based on these conversations, he is able to say that some of the republicans in fact hated Donald Trump but kept mum at that time for obvious reasons.
This list has names of Utah Senator Mitt Romney and Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse and these two people had earlier even publicly denounced the President for his wrong policies.
The list of disdainful senators
While Mitt Romney and Ben Sasse had publicly made it clear that they do not agree with what Donald Trump is saying, there were others such as Maine Senator Susan Collins and Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski who expressed their disapproval of the President in a subtle way and intermittently and did not fully criticize him.
I'm not violating any pledge of journalistic confidentially in reporting this: 21 Republican Sens–in convos w/ colleagues, staff members, lobbyists, W. House aides–have repeatedly expressed extreme contempt for Trump & his fitness to be POTUS. (1/3)

The remaining 16 senators were in full support of the President in public but behind his back and in private, they disapproved of his moves and thinking. The President has been crying foul of the election results since the win of Joe Biden. And these 16 had joined him in these unsubstantiated claims that there was election fraud. Hence, these did not recognize Joe Biden as the winner and President-Elect.The 21 GOP Senators who have privately expressed their disdain for Trump are: Portman, Alexander, Sasse, Blunt, Collins, Murkowski, Cornyn, Thune, Romney, Braun, Young, Tim Scott, Rick Scott, Rubio, Grassley, Burr, Toomey, McSally, Moran, Roberts, Shelby. The senators tweet their loyalty to Donald Trump
After this tweet was published, a number of the named senators immediately tweeted their loyalty to Donald Trump. Roy Blunt was one of them. He told Washington Examiner:
"From the day I stood beside President Trump as he was sworn in as President, he and I have had a good relationship,"
Ohio's Rob Portman's spokesperson said:
"This is absolutely false. The Senator has never talked to Mr Bernstein, and we don't know where he's getting his false information,"
The Senator supported President Trump's re-election and believes his policies are better for Ohio and the entire country."
Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley's rep also said:
"Mr Bernstein's sources clearly aren't what they used to be,""This simply isn't true. Grassley has been a strong supporter of the President and, at the same time, has made it no secret when he disagrees with the President. There is no difference between what he says publicly and privately."Washington journalists might be wise to reconsider trafficking in baseless second and third-hand rumour. It may restore some lost credibility."
Indiana's Todd Young's rep also denied that Todd had any disdain for Donald. He said he does not want to respond to any baseless rumors. Mike Braun, Todd's colleague also said:
"This is more false news from a CNN political analyst, as I was one of President Trump's top defenders during impeachment and strongly support his legal efforts to ensure that every legal vote is counted,"
Carl said on CNN's New Day show:
"We are witnessing the mad king, in the final days of his reign, willing to scorch the earth of his country and bring down the whole system. To undermine our democracy, strip it of its legitimacy, poison the confidence of our people in our institutions and the Constitution, for Donald Trump's own petulant, selfish, rabid ends,"
And he added:
"We have a President of the United States, for the first time in our history, sabotaging his country. That's where we are. And will these Republicans continue to allow it for another day?
"Because every day, it appears more and more that our system cannot handle – was not designed to handle – an aberrant mad king like Donald Trump."
