On Monday, Melania said:

“I am excited to announce this year's White House holiday theme, 'America the Beautiful',"

“It is a tribute to the majesty of our great Nation."

"From coast to coast, the bond that all Americans share is an appreciation for our traditions, values and history, which were the inspiration behind the decorations this year,"

THE DECORATION DETAILS

On the East Wing when the visitors enter they are greeted by The Gold Star Family Tree. This is a traditional part of the decorations. It is draped in blue and symbolizes justice and perseverance. It is a tribute to the national heroes and also their families who also bear with them and support them. And this year, there was something special. The families who decorated this tree wrote the name of their fallen family member on a ribbon and these ribbons would be put on the tree.
