Gender bias is present in India all over its regions. Male children and men are favored while female offsprings and women are hated. Female foeticide and infanticide is still present there. Government claims that it has managed to abolish it, but it has only gone underground.
Gender bias of Indian society stems from its deep-rooted culture which to date remains anti-women. It exists from North to south of India and from West to its eastern regions. It is maximum maybe in North and least in East. Nonetheless, it exists everywhere there. It is in milder form in urban areas and affluent class and severe in rural areas and poor class. But it is present in every home of India. It may be in subtle forms in some houses. It is also present in houses that boastingly deny it.
But the irony of this gender bias is:
1. Good women are not appreciated and bad men continue to be revered
2. Good daughters are considered alien and bad sons are considered to be theirs.
3. People give away their good daughters and keep their bad sons with them.
4. People tell lies to grab a good daughter-in-law.
5. Sons are reared in a bad way while daughters are reared to be dutiful. The end result is that sons become bad husbands and fathers later on in their lives.
6. Extramarital affairs of men are ignored and purity of women is suspected.

7. Men abandon good wives and keep mistresses.
8. Domestic gender based violence on women is considered normal.
9. Women are reared to be like cows and a liability. Whereas men are not supervised or taught about family life or respect of women.
The outcome is widespread unhappiness in family life. Not giving a woman her due respect and promoting gender inequality is harmful not only did women but also for men. Many men there have expressed that they feel marriage as fetters. They feel it has to be borne. Children also suffer due to it. Mental issues and stress increases and sadness and depression comes into the lives.
To avoid all this, aim for true gender equality for happiness of all.
