How India has regressed in the past 7 years?

Since the time that the pro-Hindu nationalist party, BJP came to power in 2014 in India, Hinduism has been twisted and exploited. It has lost its sheen and meaning and it is gradually but certainly getting replaced by Hindutva. More and more people are getting brainwashed into this wrong ideology of wanting to make their own religion a supremo. Secularism was the important fabric of this nation but it has long back been tossed into the Arabian Sea. There is a growing fear amongst the minorities and especially the Muslims who are being targeted for the mere fact that they are practicing a different religion!

Society not good for living

India is converting to a society where Hindus feel that they are powerful just because a pro-Hindu leader has come to power by whatever means he did so. Love, empathy, compassion has disappeared and in their place, hatred, cunningness, pride, lies have come. Unnecessary and meaningless rituals are being popularized and people are been targeted in the name of nationalism. Fear and retaliative politics is ongoing. This may seem to fetch some short-term gains but long-term benefits are lacking. Hypermasculinity is dominating and is against the teachings of some great social reformers of yesteryears. Other religions are getting belittled and these people are fakely labeled as terrorists. Religion has turned narcissistic and egoist.

Retaliative politics serves no one

The law has not helped the weak section

It is sad and disappointing that the law also has not sided the weak sections of society. By playing a calculative game in the appointment of lawyers of the Supreme Court, the land where Babri Masjid was demolished has been handed over to these pro-Hindutva elements. All those who demolished Babri Masjid has been left scotfree and the culprits are out to do more damage to society. Many people have accused the courts of being saffronized and they are not wrong in considering so. No one has been truly helped by this verdict of the Supreme Court.

Only the egos of the politicians have been caressed and the benefits and safety of the society have been totally ignored. It has put the other religions in an inferior position. It would have been better had the court given a secular decision in the form of handing over the disputed land for a playground for children or sports activities. Or maybe for opening an educational institution where people from all religions and walks of life would have been able to get their education and grow and develop in life. But by pushing all this in the back, the court has only shown that it is on the side of the Hindu extremists.

The intra-Hindu fights

The Hindu religion itself is split into a number of factions and it is natural that these splits would come to the forefront once they are able to sideline all the other religions. There are caste rifts in this religion and also the Hindu fundamentalists are unable to tolerate the Hindu people that speak about secularism. Besides, they have other factions in them that support a particular leader such as Shivaji and Tilak. They are not for the Gandhis and Nehrus though both of them were Hindus. They are out to settle a score of the past and are not for the development of the nation in any way.

These things are clear to the intellectuals but the weak-minded and illiterates are unable to understand it and go with the wave. Then there are also some educated illiterates who resort to excess and improper use of Facebook and social media and accept things without analyzing them. The net result is a spread of hatred and there seems to be no hope for this nation.

A change of power might be the answer but for it people have to unite and understand. Just like the Americans did it for Donald Trump who was out to spread hate amongst the people. Will India be able to set things right? It is a test and the answers would be clear with time.
