Alternatives to Whatsapp messenger platform! Would you like to opt for it?

 Whatsapp's new policies for its customers is unwelcome since it invades their privacy and security zones are breached. The app is forcing its existing customers to accept the new policies which the latter are not happy with. Hence these customers are scouting for new and better alternatives where their privacy and security remain protected. So what are these other options for them?

Whatsapp has come up with new policies that it wanted its clients to accept before continuing to use their app. One of these was:

"WhatsApp must receive or collect some information to operate, provide, improve, understand, customise, support, and market our services, including when you install, access, or use our services. The types of information we receive and collect depend on how you use our services.”

The customers were enraged and expressed openly and loudly on social media against it. The deadline set by the company was 8 February 2021 but seeing the uneasiness and online protests, they have pushed the date forward to May 2021. 82% of the app users were not in favor of the new privacy policies of the company. 

Alternatives to Whatsapp

There are a few better options if one now no more likes Whatsapp. I did not like it from the start. The other alternatives are:

Telegram: it is an older and fuss-free app. Many Whatsapp users already have it installed in their mobile phone and use it as a supplementary social app. It is similar to Whatsapp. In early January, it got 25 million downloads in 72 hours and has crossed 500 million users. 

The advantage of Telegram is its unlimited group size to over 200k, possibility of transfering large videos, any types of documents, and also have bots for different tasks. One can have secret chats with someone and the messages are self-destroyed from both the gadgets used. One can import chat histories and has voice chat rooms too.

Signal: Before limited to techies, its user base has extended to the general masses. In a week, the app downloads grew 62 times to nearly 18 million. Its founder Brian Acton said:

“We’ve seen unprecedented growth this past week... It’s safe to say that because of this record growth, we’re even more interested in finding talented people,” 

It has enhanced its features and is getting similar to Whatsapp.

Threema: It is less popular but more secure. But it is a paid app. The messages are end-to-end encrypted and deleted the moment they reach the recipient. Anonymous chats and group chats are possible on this messenger platform. One can do polls and it has more than 1 million downloads. 

Bridgefy: One can use it even with no internet. It has 1 million downloads. One can do one-to-one chat, or mesh network chat, or in the Broadcast mode. 

Element: Its other name is Riot.im. 8t is a messenger and a video collaborating platform. It has 100k instals until now. There are claims of no data-mining and no ads. Both individual and group chats are possible on this app. It can host clubs, communities, and also social events. The other features are similar to Whatsapp.

Wire: On this, one can sign up without a phone number and with a taken name as well. Its use is simple and easy. There is one-click conference button. Abd other features of most messenger apps exist in it. There is stylus support as well to write with hand! There can be paid business meets as well. It has more than 1000k downloads.
