Enough destruction has been caused by so-called holders/pillars of religion. Mixing religion with politics is as harmful as mixing poison with food! Everyone wants and needs food for subsistence but without the poison! I say poison because the purpose and present scenario of religion are two different things. Every religion started as guidance for humans to live a good life and for a healthier society. It is a two-edged sword; if used properly it can do wonders but if used the wrong way, it would lead to the disaster of humankind!

More often than not, religion is being used for the bad of society. Divisions, oppression, exploitation, violence, converters, unhappiness, unnecessary rituals and customs, poverty, corruption, and more of such vices is what society gets for keeping religion in the public domain and mixing it with politics.

Travel and migration has made countries have people of different religions within their borders. Some may be the majority but others may be a minority. Each country has to respect humanity and place religion out of the domain of politics and public life if is really aiming for the happiness and prosperity of the nation!

No one religion can dominate a country even if they have the majority of the population belonging to that religion. Hence, the UN has to take note of this fact and make it applicable to all the countries of the world. Every country should uphold secular views and laws in the true sense of the world and help humans and not people of just one religion. Every religion teaches human equality and justice. By trying to make the nation as belonging to one religion would be going against the principles of their own religion. This itself would imply that the said country actually is ‘pseudo-religious’ and a ‘hypocrite’.

It is the duty of the UN to see to it that all countries of the world become secular and laicite. Laicite is practiced in France and Turkey. In this, they totally discourage the involvement of religion in making of governmental policies and vice versa. It states that religion is a private affair and should not come in the public area. In the public area, each individual is a simple citizen and has all equal rights.

There should be no mix of religion and politics and anyone doing so much is duly punished. UN should have laws in place for this type of crimes at national level and also for the political leaders who use these measures to leverage votes for themselves.
