If you want to get a master's in personal rivalry, you must learn it from the Maharashtra government. Be it Shive Sena or the BJP, they have done a PhD in it. Time and again, it has been seen that the court time is wasted in judging cases where the primary aim was to let down someone due to personal rivalry! The genuine cases are given a backseat while a tamasha unfolds for many days on TV and radio and fills the pages of the newspapers. After all, this is the earnings of these journalists. The same happened in the recent Maha Tamasha of Arnab Goswami. This is not the first time that such drama occurred and let to wastage of court hours!

Arnab and his arrest
It is a well-known fact that the TV journalist Arnab Goswami is less of a journalist and more of a bully and a slave of the BJP party. There were rumors that he got the support of the BJP government in launching his own channel on the TV in order to sing their praises always. Though BJP had formed a government in Maharashtra with the help of the local party, Shiv Sena, BJP was thrown out of this coalition during the current state elections when Sharad Pawar, the veteran politician entered the fray and helped Congress and Shiv Sena form a party there. Those were also days of dramas as the fun-thirsty stressed people of the state were on their sofas to watch the end of the suspense.

Arnab has always been anti-Shiv Sena. In fact, except BJP, he does not allow any person to speak on his shows. He bullies them and also makes a lot of hate comments and unsubstantiated claims on the show. Where are the TV regulatory bodies at that time and how do they allow these hate and wrong claims on TV? No one knows. Maybe, they are in some sort of slumber or in a phase of numbness with the happenings in that state. But the net result of all this was that the Maharashtra police under the pressures of the current Maharashtra government arrested the journalist on 4 November 2020. On what charges was he arrested? You would be surprised and amused to know that the arrest was related to suicide abetment of a case that was 2 years old!!! It was a clear-cut case of personal rivalry and revenge and attempts to sort out a personal score against Arnab Goswami! It was a tit for tat for what he normally does on his shows.
Arnab and the interim bail
Since 8 November 2020, he was lodged in Taloja jail. He had three rounds of police interrogation while there, he said. But he was released on 11 November 2020 after the Supreme Court granted him interim bail. The Judge said that personal liberty cannot be curtailed and if it is it is a travesty of justice. Why the Judge did not provide any punishment to the police department that held Arnab is a false case is not known! Why the Judge did not make attempts at that time to tell Arnab to stick to journalism and not go around revenging people or playing a game of prejudice, is not known! Does it imply that the Judges there have a narrow perspective of things and do not want to really solve societal issues adequately?
But, on coming out, Arnab gave a challenge to the Maharashtra Cheif Minister saying:
“Uddhav Thackeray, you arrested me in an old, fake case and did not even apologise to me,”“The game has just begun,”

| Why is the Indian Court allowing such personal retaliation acts to waste its prime and valuable time? [Source: The Print] |
Are these all acts of a 'civilized community'? Is it the land of the oldest 'civilization' of the world? Can the Court stop allowing people to use their valuable time in such frivolous cases and concentrate on genuine cases? They could have easily made enough statements and also rules to stop such revengeful acts from reaching the court premises and wasting their time!
