Perpetual rich beggars

There are many people in the world who beg. It is not that they have less money. It is that begging is a habit for them. These people lack dignity and self-respect.

For instance, I know of a joint family in Uttarakhand, India. Two brothers: the elder has three sons and the younger brother has one son and one daughter. All children married with their own offsprings.

Perpetual unwanted guests at home

The daughter was good and working as a nurse in a reputed local hospital. But they married her off forcing her to leave the job and justifying it by saying that girls are parayi (aliens or strangers). Read here for full details.

None of the four sons left behind have any fixed job. They don't earn enough money for self and family. Nonetheless, the family is filthy rich. They are agriculturalist with property worth crores of rupees. Many labourers working on the land and crops sold earns them a lot. And they don't have to pay any income tax on this agricultural income in India. So everything is pocketed. Moreover, they have lot of properties that have been rented. That earnings also come in. They are local politicians in the area and of course, there is income or maybe say bribe coming from there as well.

Such a well-to-do family and yet they do not want to shell out money for vacations. If they want to visit anyone, they will want to stay at house of that person as guests rather than pay and stay at a hotel. Shameful.

And they keep asking people who are staying and working in Nepal whether they can stay at their house. People working on salaries in Nepal reside in rental homes because foreigners are not allowed to own properties in Nepal unless they have a business there. And in such a case, how can they have guests in the small flats in which they live for self and family?

But no, this rich family wants to stay with those residing overseas. Because this attitude of begging has become a habit for them. They have so much of money and yet they beg of others. This shows also their dignity less lives. Sad. Many in that land live such lives and continue boasting.
