Did Kim Kardashian order import of a smuggled ancient Roman statue from Italy?

Kim Kardashian is a popular socialite and social media influencer. Who does not know her? But do you know that her name has been dragged into an ancient Roman statue smuggling row?

In May 2016, an ancient statue from Roman times was seized at a port. It was part of a larger shipment worth 745000 USD and weighing 5000 kg. The customs suspected that it is a cultural priceless property of Italy. There is a law about proper documentation of such rare art forms that was missing in the shipment papers.

Last week after the case was heard in court, US prosecutors asked that the sculpture work be returned to Italy where it belongs. An Italian archaeologist had said that the art piece was looted, then smuggled out of the country and thus was illegally exported.

And now it has emerged the name of the person that was the consignee was Kim Kardashian. The importers name is put as:

"'Kim Kardashian dba Noel Roberts Trust' in Woodland Hills, California" 

The sale was dated 11 March 2016 and the seller was Vervoordt. Noel Roberts Trust is an American real estate agent that deals with the purchases and sales of properties owned by Kim Kardashian and her ex-husband Kanye West. And Axel Vervoordt is a Belgian art dealer who is also known to Kim. He had done work on the interior decoration of Kim Kardashian's house in Los Angeles.

But Kim Kardashian's spokesperson has dismissed the news as fake. The report is not authentic, according to her spokesperson. The star has no links with the statue, they asserted. 

The statue is that of the early or mid Roman Empire. It shows a person's lower half and is called "Fragment of Myron Samian Athena". As per the Italian archaeologist, the work is unique and is of the classical Peplophoros style. It is a copy of the original sculpture from Greece. 

But it is also added that what sale papers the custom broker provided about the sake of statue to Alex by a gallery of Paris is about a totally different statue!!!
