ABCS-ANYBODY CAN SING!

ABCD is a popular abbreviation that stands for Anybody Can Dance. It was a movie made by Choreographer Remo D'Souza. It was released worldwide in February 2013 and got positive reviews. I would go one step further to say ABCS. This stands for Anybody Can Sing. Singing has health benefits and should be used for mood elevation and removal of stress of urban lives. 

Singing, songs, and the components

Songs have rhyming verses called lyrics accompanied with background music. And singers sing it. The songs may be from a private album or from a film. It may be a romantic number or a sad song or a dance song or a philosophical one or a religious one and the like. It may be a child song. If we look at Bollywood, it has songs for almost all occasions of life. The songs may be sung solo or in duets or with 3 or more singers or in chorus. Chorus songs may have a mix of solo, duet and chorus. The singers who sing the songs are trained and talented. They practice daily to keep their voice good. Some sing in their natural voice while others use a false voice quality called falsetto. 

In Bollywood, singers before the Lata Mangeshwar era were with soprano voice quality or alto voice quality. Later sopranos were given importance and those with alto voice such as usha uthup, ila arun did not get much work in Bollywood though they were talented. Now again there is some rising trend towards use of singers with alto voice. On the other hand in Hollywood and in western music, voice of all types are given importance.

Whether you listen to a song or sing it yourself, the benefits are enormous. Music heals, soothes, and calms. It removes stress and elevates mood. It helps in psychosomatic disorders and body aches and pains. Music helps in release of good and happy hormones in the body that are overall beneficial for the well-being of individuals.

Considering the health benefits of music and singing, one should try to sing. If you have a passion and will for singing, it is easy. You need not be a born singer. To harness the goodness of singing, you should be determined to sing to your full potential.

You should be passionate about singing and a particular song. Some songs have really great lyrics and one can relate to them. Pick up such a song. Learn the lyrics. There are now karaoke apps and software programs which make this easy. It also has the background music and in case of duets, one of the singer's voice (male or female) is also inbuilt. One should be able to infuse feelings into the song and sing in tune with the music. One should synchronize with the music. Practice it and see which voice quality you have. Try to get the best  voice quality that does not strain your vocal cords. And start singing. Remember practice makes a person perfect. So keep going. 

Also, digital technology has made things easier for beginners. If you feel that the song you sang and recorded is not so good or as you expected, you can even use the software programs and apps to change the volume, pitch, and tempo of the song you sang in your voice. And you will see wonders. So remember, ABCS-Anybody can sing! And enjoy the health benefits! Make it a child's play!!!
