The way from Nepal to the tallest peak of the Earth is not a paved way. One has to take a plane to Lukla and then trek up the mountain to reach Mount Everest by land. But with the plane, you just need to board a plane with tickets from Kathmandu and in 30-40 minutes, you will be near the peak.
It is a scenic flight with breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Besides, you have the comfort of a plane and a helicopter with no chances of getting cold and frosty with the climb. Risks are less and you will not be forced to ear the trekking or travel foods.
More about the planes and what to expect?
Most of the planes to Mount Everest fly out from Kathmandu in the early hours of the morning. That is the best time to view the mountain range and peak. The plane is small around 15-20 seater one. After flying out of Kathmandu domestic airport, the flight moves in a Northeastern direction to reach the Himalayan range and Mount Everest. Every person gets a window-seat. So all can see the beautiful views either when the flight is flying in or flying out to the range. The cost is around 100 USD for Nepalis and Indians, and 200 USD for other foreigners.
Besides, while the plane is flying to the peak, the air hostesses would ask you one by one to enter the cockpit and see the beautiful view of the peak from there. The view from the cockpit is breathtaking. You can watch it in the video here.
