Dr James Phillips who criticized Donald Trump for his 'political theater' removed from service at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center!!!

Increasingly worldwide it is seen that politics interferes and dominates over medicine when in fact, medicine and science are always right! The same happened in the case of Dr James Phillips. He was a dedicated emergency room doctor working for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He had criticized Donald Trump for his drive-by the hospital when he was ill with coronavirus infection. And the medical center gave him the pink slip for it???

Dr James Phillips and his ousting

Dr James Phillips was working as an emergency room doctor at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in the USA. Donald Trump was admitted at the hospital when he was down with coronavirus infection in October 2020. While being there, Donald had taken his motorcade and Secret  Service police on a drive in order to wave at his supporters who had gathered there to see him and know about his health condition. As a patient of the hospital, Donald is forbidden to do so. But the medical center management decided to turn a blind eye to this act of the outgoing president of the USA.

But Dr James Phillips could not keep quiet on this risky act of the President and criticized him publicly. This led the center to remove him from their work schedule. However, James will continue to work for the George Washington School of Medicine.

More details of the case

James did his final duty on Sunday 27 December 2020. He had tweeted about it. He thanked the staff at the hospital and also said that he will miss his patients that he had attended at the medical center. Further, he also asserted that he does not regret his words and will not apologize for it. James tweeted:

"I'm honored to have worked there and I look forward to new opportunities. I stand by my words, and I regret nothing,"

But the Medical Center said that they have not made any decision to remove him. The hospital said:

"As you may know, Dr Phillips worked as a contract employee at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), which provides requirements for contract employees to the contract agency. The contract agency then works together with contract employees to determine individual schedules."

The White House did not make any comments and reply to CNN's request to clarify on this ousting of James.

What exactly ensued between James and Donald Trump?

The drive-by of Donald Trump to wave at his supporters irritated James and he had said that this behavior of the President was totally unnecessary. He also added that the President was risking the lives of people by his political theater. In October, he tweeted:

"That Presidential SUV is not only bulletproof, but hermetically sealed against chemical attack. The risk of COVID19 transmission inside is as high as it gets outside of medical procedures. The irresponsibility is astounding. My thoughts are with the Secret Service forced to play."

The tweet continued:

"Every single person in the vehicle during that completely unnecessary Presidential 'drive-by' just now has to be quarantined for 14 days. They might get sick. They may die. For political theater. Commanded by Trump to put their lives at risk for theater. This is insanity."

This tweet no more exists on his Twitter handle. Why the other medical fraternity did not stand for this doctor is astonishing! Is it an act of cowardice on their part to not defend their comrade who was right? Does this speak not so good of the medical fraternity? Is it lacking in unity? Should unity and solidarity be taught to the new medical recruits as part of their curriculum?
