Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner vs Kushner and Trump family: The strain of differing political views

 

What happens when in a family there are people who favor different political parties and candidates! It would be stressful and more so if this difference is between a person and his or her in-laws! American fashion model Karlie Kloss is married to Joshua Kushner who is the brother of Jared Kushner, the senior advisor in Trump administration. Jared is the son-in-law of Donald Trump and the husband of Ivanka Trump. And recently, Karlie has hinted that she endorses Joe Biden who is the rival of Donald Trump! So does this difference affect her relations with her in-laws and the Trump family?

The model Karlie who is married into the Kushner family has different political views from them. She favors Joe Biden in 2020 Presidential elections. Recently, she has posted a photo of herself holding the voting envelope and wearing a Joe Harris mask. She captioned this Instagram post:

“What’s your voting plan? This was mine — signed, sealed, (notarized), and delivered ✅ #voteBLUE #scienceoverfiction.”

Her complicated relations with her husband’s family

Karlie and Joshua wed in 2018. Karlie had revealed that she has complicated relations with her husband’s family due to her differing political views. Earlier this year for her birthday she had uploaded a video which indicated that she would not be supporting Donald Trump and his administration. In the video, she had described 28 things that she had learned in 28 years. And according to her, one of the lessons has been:

"Your voice and your vote matters. So register and show up at the polls because we all deserve change in November."

Earlier, she had also said that both her husband and herself are liberals. Joshua is also a Democrat like her and is for gun control legislation. Besides, the political difference, there is also a divide in the family over Joshua’s relationship with and marriage to the model. The recent book of Vicky Ward titled Kushner Inc has detailed this complicated matter in the family.

In the book, Vicky has talked about how Jared and Ivanka became the self-styled Prince and Princess of the USA. Besides, the author has depicted the dynamics of the Kushner family. The father of Jared and Joshua, Charles was a dominating person. Charles was a son of Holocaust survivors. He has accumulated a great amount of wealth and built a real estate empire in New Jersey. But he was later convicted of 18 counts of tax evasion in 2004. He was also charged with making illegal campaign contributions and also witness tampering. He had spent 14 months in the federal prison for it.

The drama unfolded soon after Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2017 at the Trump International Hotel in DC. Here Charles turned nasty towards Joshua and did not like Karlie for her differing political views. A source revealed that Charles told Joshua:

“Josh, we expect you to do the right thing. The person you are with is not the right person.”

But Joshua remained silent and kept listening to his father’s abuses. Both Charles and his wife Seryl did not like Karlie partly because she was not Jewish like them. Ivanka was not Jewish but she had converted to Judaism before her marriage to Jared. But Karlie decided not to do that.

Also, Ivanka was different because she was a Trump and also a real estate royalty like Jared. And she was a student of Ivy League school, the University of Pennsylvania. While Karlie was from Webster Groves, Missouri, a suburb of St Louis and not been to college.

Jared is also not happy with Karlie entering their family. When someone congratulated him about Joshua dating Karlie, Jared had said:

‘Don’t worry. The family is going to take care of that. We’re not very happy about him dating a shiksa. We’re hoping he’ll move on.’

He had added:

‘She’s not that smart,’

The whole family spoke ill of Karlie behind her back and also called her a lingerie model. Joshua was not allowed to get Karlie to their family holiday gatherings. Besides, they had refused to meet her for the first six years of dating. Later on, they did welcome her but maybe not with open arms like for Ivanka.
