Stop it please! Why do Indians keep digging at something that does not exist?

Some times one doubts the sanity of people who keep trying to dig out something that does not exist. Indians give a lot of importance to heritage and lineage and keep trying to establish that anyone who is successful in the world has some Indian links!!! It happened with Sunita Willaims, the AMERICAN astronaut and it also happened with Kamala Harris, the AMERICAN running mate of AMERICAN US President-Elect Joe Biden! They were hard-bent on stressing that she is Indian when in fact she was born and grew up in the USA. Her mother might have hailed from TN but she is now well-settled in the USA since her youth days and is married there! 

And now, they have turned their attention to Joe Biden after he won the Presidential election of the USA. They have started and are also trying to fabricate an Indian link of him. Joe Biden is absolutely not keen on knowing about it. Neither does he have any such connection! But there is a frenzy to establish his origin as being Indian!!! It has reached to the extent that anyone with a namesake residing in India is being harassed and asked whether they have any link to Joe Biden!!! Ridiculous!

There is absolutely no proof that Joe Biden has any relatives in India. Joe was born in Pennsylvania which is in the USA. He is now 77 years of age. His father was Joseph Biden Sr. and his mother was Catherine Finnegan. He is the eldest of four siblings. He has a sister named Valerie and two brothers named Francis and James. Joe's mother was of Irish origin. And his father had English, French, and Irish ancestry. I hope the Indians are reading this.

Though initially wealthy, his family suffered a lot of financial setbacks and his father had no steady work. Later, he became a used car salesman and the family had a middle-class socioeconomic status. Joe had a stutter and used to try overcoming it by reciting poetry in front of a mirror. So in no way does he anyway have any slightest link to India. 

The harassment of Indians with the surname of Biden

But despite that, without an inkling of or proof, the Indians have started digging up and making up some links. A family with the surname of Biden who reside in Western India said that they are exhausted by calls to them asking them whether they are relatives of Joe Biden! Rowena Biden from Mumbai said that their family is trying to not establish any relationship with Joe Biden. She told AFP: 

"We wish Mr Joe Biden all the best for his new role as president of the USA but we are not trying to establish any connections or linkages," 

"We share a last name and that's about it,"

"All of us are well-to-do financially and have well-settled lives so we don't need any gains -- monetary or non-monetary."

Rowena revealed: 

"After the first reports came out about the possible links, people started tracking us to our house and everyone in the family had to bear the brunt of it."

They feel that Leslie their late grandfather could have contacted Joe Biden in 1972 when he won the senator seat. Rowena added: 

"The undue limelight had cast a shadow over the primacy of Mr Biden's win and our privacy as well."

Relentless efforts are on in Tamil Nadu especially because Kamala Harris' OLD links were found there. There is a plaque at St George's Cathedral in Chennai on which is inscribed that Christopher Biden was born in 1789. He was the captain of one of the cruise ships that went to India from the UK during the East India company formation and settlement there. He died on 25 February 1858. This spot has suddenly become a local tourist hotspot and a selfie point.

Even the local authorities joined this goose hunt and the Bishop of Madras, Reverend J. George Stephen said: 

"We've come to know the records of two Bidens -- William Biden and Christopher Biden -- who were brothers and became captains of the East India Company on merchant ships in the 19th century," 

"While William Biden died at an early age, Christopher Biden went on to captain several ships, and eventually settled down in Madras,"

There is absolutely no evidence that these brothers were in any way linked to Joe Biden. But that did not stop the locals from going on and making selfies in front of the plaque. 

The "mutual great, great, great, great, great grandfather"...

Media also joined in and TOI newspaper ran a story in which they said that Joe Biden has relatives in Nagpur. And the connection they said was "mutual great, great, great, great, great grandfather". 5 times great grandfather....Uff...They even made a family tree to corroborate their story and linkage. They are not bothered whether Joe is interested or not in establishing this link. But the Indian media is happy doing it. The Nagpur Bidens are all financially rich and well-settled in their lives and professions.

Please can you stop this practice of getting a feeling of grandeur with links with prominent people of the world!!! Stop being obsessed with the past and concentrate on the present and future that may not really be bright!!!

Even if a link is found between India and the prominent celebrity what will happen? He will still hold the passport of that country and work for them!!! Can you please concentrate on more important works of the nation rather than wasting time digging up things that do not exist!!!
